Tips for Pasadena Businesses to Reopen Successfully

As local businesses are preparing to re-open their doors to employees and patrons, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) has some tips to help during the transition.

As a community-owned utility, the quality of Pasadena’s tap water remains high. With little or no water running through buildings during the Safer-at-Home Order, bacteria can grow in your building’s water pipes. Consider how much your water system was used during the Safer-at-Home Order, and whether flushing, cleaning, and other maintenance is necessary before reopening. PWP recommends following the tips provided by the Center for Disease Control to help maintain the quality of water in your business.

PWP also recommends:

  • Be sure to flush all toilets before allowing employees or customers to use them.
  • Run and test your emergency generator to ensure it is operational.
  • Consider exercising your fire line.
  • Scams are at an all-time high – please remind your employees to be alert and vigilant.

PWP wants the community to know that they may notice an increase in hardness in the water. Please be assured that the tap water is still safe to drink and the increase in hardness is only the result of high mineral content that comes from Pasadena’s imported water supplies, primarily the Colorado River. PWP is currently focused on capital investments that will build the necessary infrastructure to allow us to capture more local water. To learn more, visit PWPweb.com/WaterQuality
